Episode Description[]

UmiCar enters a race around the city to try to win the grand prize-a big bunch of balloons-for his friend Sam. But UmiCar will have to out-race Dump Truck, who'll stop at nothing to win! [1]

Summary[]

UmiCar is asked by Team Umizoomi to compete in The Race Around Umi City in order to win the grand prize, a giant bunch of balloons, for their friend Sam. However, the competition includes UmiCar's newest rival, the big blue Dump Truck, who's a very big unfair racer and will stop at nothing to win!

Synopsis[]

Intro: The Race Around Umi City[]

The second season begins as Team Umizoomi is seen at the starting line of a race around Umi City. They then introduce themselves and their powers, in the style of racing. Milli makes a pattern of race cars, Geo builds a race car with his shapes, and Bot shows a figure-8 race track on his Robot Computer. Geo tells Umi-Friend that there's a big race, and asks if they like races as well. Assuming they said yes, he agrees, and states that the team loves races. The team also sees their friend Sam, who is excited to see who wins the big prize - a bunch of balloons! He loves those, and he also brought a balloon with a race car on it from home.

Meet The Racers[]

Before the race starts, they introduce the types of vehicles, big and small, that will be participating in this race. There is a school bus, a pick-up truck, a taxi cab, and more. Apparently, one of the racers is a big blue dump truck named Dump Truck who already starts his mischief by popping Sam's balloon. Geo clearly emphasizes how mean that is, and the team wants to get Sam a new balloon. Just then, Milli gets an idea - the team can also participate in the race with UmiCar to see if they can win all those balloons, and if they do, they can give the whole bunch of balloons to Sam! However, when UmiCar arrives at the race, Dump Truck makes fun of UmiCar because he is way smaller. Dump Truck does not think UmiCar should win the big race, but he should think again there! Although UmiCar is really small, he presents himself in an upbeat song and believes that he can win the race. Sam thinks that UmiCar is really fast and brave, and therefore the team assures Sam that with support from Umi-Friend, they can win the race. The adventure then begins, and after the racers start driving, the team sings "We Are Team Umizoomi."

Drivin' to the Lead, Part 1![]

Team Umizoomi tries to use their math powers to know where they stand in the race, and how to make it to first place by the end of the race to win. Bot and Umi-Friend count the vehicles that are participating, including UmiCar, and there were ten (10) racers altogether, with UmiCar in last place. The objective is to pass all nine (9) other vehicles, including Dump Truck, in order to win the race and the prize of Balloons for Sam. The team then gets past a striped car, a spotted car, and a pink car, putting him in seventh place. After which, there is a ramp that UmiCar uses to make a big jump. So far, UmiCar is doing really good!

Bouncy Ball Bridge[]

When the team sees the racers driving over a red drawbridge, UmiCar tries to go over it as well, but it lifts up, which stops him from making it across. Bot uses his Umi-Goggles to see what's causing this to happen. He then sees that Dump Truck is lifting it up by constantly pressing a red up button, as a means of preventing UmiCar from going any further. However, this does not stop the team, as UmiCar sees some floating beach balls lined up on the water. To get across, UmiCar decides to bounce on the beach balls to use them as a bridge. However, when Geo sees one missing, Milli uses her Pattern Power to fix that, because the beach balls are lined up in a pattern, with the sequence: small, small, big. After Milli puts a big beach ball, and two (2) small beach balls in their respective places, the bridge is completed, and the team bounces their way back to the race, completing this part of the mission! In addition, he pushes the green down button on the drawbridge's control panel to make the bridge go back down and give the other racers access to it, as an act of kindness.

Drivin' to the Lead, Part 2![]

Once UmiCar continues driving on the road, Bot gets a call from Sam, who is praising the team for all their hard work so far, but also encourages them to pick up the pace because a lot of the racers are still ahead of him. Milli once again promises Sam that the team will do their best to win the race. Then, Sam wishes them luck before hanging up. After which, UmiCar passes the green tractor, the school bus, and a mail truck, putting him in fourth place. Now he is getting even closer to taking the lead, but Dump Truck is close up ahead of him! UmiCar tries passing him by attempting to go around him, but Dump Truck blocks the way. He does so again as UmiCar steers the other way, but UmiCar will stop at nothing to try and beat him... kinda.

Under-Maze[]

After blocking UmiCar's way twice, Dump Truck decides to dump a giant pile of dirt over UmiCar, which stops him from moving. Sadly, this also means that Team Umizoomi got stuck! However, they also find out that they are on top of a manhole cover which takes them to an underground tunnel that UmiCar can drive through to get back in the race. Bot uses his math skills to find a way out by going through the nearby tunnel pipes, but the tunnel they are driving through splits into many different tunnels, most of which are dead ends, meaning they stop at a random point and do not keep going. One of the tunnels, however, can lead the team back to the street. They just have to make sure to only drive through the pipes that keep going, and after going through the right ones, they make it back onto the street and can continue racing!

Drivin' to the Lead, Part 3![]

Once UmiCar got back in the race, the team realized that the street splits into two (2) different directions, but Sam saw the team in person and stated that the racers turned right, so UmiCar drives in that direction while Sam continues to root for the team. As UmiCar keeps driving, his song plays in the background for a brief moment as more fans cheer for him. Then, he goes right past the pick-up truck and makes it to third place. However, Dump Truck is still ahead, and is up to something again!

Symmetry Wheel[]

Dump Truck grabs a yellow bucket of soapy bubbles and dumps them onto the road to make it really slippery. Now, UmiCar is losing control of his steering wheel, and in the end, he bumps into a big traffic cone, and bounces off of it. This causes half of the steering wheel to crumble and break, stopping his ability to drive yet again. In order for UmiCar to continue in the race, Geo has to build the shapes to make up the other half of the steering wheel to fix it. He uses his Super Shape Power to find the shapes that broke off UmiCar's steering wheel, which included half of a diamond, half of a star, and half of a circular ring. With a little help from Umi-Friend, Geo got those shapes from his shape belt and built the rest of UmiCar's steering wheel, completing this part of the team's mission!

Drivin' to the Lead, Part 4![]

Now, the team drives past the taxi cab and makes it to second place. Almost to the finish line, Dump Truck is still in the lead to win the balloons. So, Bot implements a special way to make UmiCar go faster: counting to ten (10) really fast. The counting speed makes UmiCar go faster in order to pass Dump Truck and win the race. When Bot counts to ten (10) even faster, UmiCar get even closer to passing Dump Truck, but they are also really close to the finish line. When Bot and Umi-Friend count to ten (10) as fast as they can, UmiCar passes Dump Truck and crosses the finish line before he does. Now, he has won the race, which means Sam gets to take home all the balloons!

Conclusion: Balloons for Everyone[]

Sam was so proud that the team won, and even though he's happy to have so many balloons, he decides to share them and give some to the team. Suddenly, they notice Dump Truck just sitting off by himself looking really sad. They feel kind of sorry for him. UmiCar gives Dump Truck a balloon that matches his color, which surprises Dump Truck, but also makes him happy, He's so touched by this kind deed, that he apologizes for being mean, and starts to become friends with UmiCar. All the racers then join in on the Crazy Shake before the team signs off, ending the episode.
